Fashion Fun in Unlikely Places

Most people along the Wasatch Front have heard of Smith and Edwards {country boy store!} and many have seen it off the side of the freeway while driving the northern section of I-15, but have you ever ventured inside?

It is a crazy place! But I love it! This is where we picked up the fire ring for our fire pit, you can buy canning supplies here as well as dutch ovens, guns, army blankets, camping equipment, fireplaces and all sorts of other random things!

Even though most of their clothes are hunting or cowboy clothes, you can still find some cute gems like this awesome hat I got.

Or these cute rainboots. I got the red plaid ones today. Fun for fall and winter. But I might have to get some different ones for spring. Gee, that's a bummer!

They also had this fun lion hat for little kids that is just too stinkin' cute!

And I thought these hats were really fun too.

And I found a new line of shoes that I'm going goo-goo over! These are Bog boots that are 100% waterproof and oh so comfy! They didn't have my size in this though, but the larger size looked way cute poking out from underneath my jeans.

So don't discount strange places for fun fashion finds! You just might surprise yourself!

Clearly I Need These Shoes

I have a lot of green in my wardrobe--it's my favorite color. So clearly I need to add these shoes! Plus they would look great with lots of other colors too! Oh, and I'll take the leopard print ones and while we're at it, these cute Wellies too!

Classic Yellow and Navy

{via JCrew}

Sure these are out of the kids section, but I think these outfits could look easily as cute on us more grown up girls too. I mean yellow and navy are such a classic combination after all.

Ralph Lauren's Rugby

Have I mentioned before how much I love, love, LOVE Ralph Lauren? I would say he is MY designer. I'm supposed to be shopping for a few extras for my upcoming Hawaii trip but instead I'm playing in my own little imaginary world of Rugby. I'm loving the Fairisle stuff but thats not going to work in Hawaii I'm thinking.

Why Can't This Come In MY Size?

I'm giddy with excitement! The weather has turned cold. Snow on the valley floor is in the forecast! This is when my inner Scandinavian pops out!

I was just standing in my closet and realizing that all of a sudden I'm going to have so many choices to wear! I can't wait! My wardrobe is full of cold weather clothes {I tend to struggle with warm weather clothes for some reason--I'm just meant for cold weather I guess}.

But what I'd really love to wear is this:

Now why doesn't this come in my size???

Gymboree Inspiration

I'm a little sad my daughter doesn't fit Gymboree clothing anymore. They were always so cute. Here are a few of my favs right now that I think could be translated into a more grown up type version for her {or me too?} if we can find the right pieces at other places.

Khaki's = easy
Navy shirt and sweater = easy
{just check the uniform departments}

Jeans = easy
{add embellishments of your own, or just wear plain jeans}

Navy sweater vest or tank top = easy
{add an applique if you want}

white blouse = easy

navy shoes = just check around

Once again, check the uniform sections

Green hoodie = fairly basic, I'm sure you could find one
Argyle sweater = would have to check around
Denim skirt = probably pretty easy to find

Jeans = easy
{go plain or embellish your own if wanted}

Long sleeved patterned shirt = easy
{could do any sort of color you wanted}

Short sleeved button up sweater = easy
{pick color to coordinate with shirt}

Fun pair of shoes = just check around!

Style Icon

I love, love, love Betsey Johnson. I may be a pretty conservative dresser most of the time, but I love her hair, her playful attitude and sense of joie de vive. She really appeals to my inner punk rock party girl!

Hair, The Crowning Glory

Hair is just as important as the accessories to your overall look. Unfortunately I have fumble fingers. I can't do a french braid for the life of me and I struggle with getting a straight part most of the time too! How sad is that???

Maybe this is the reason my darling daughter doesn't like to get her hair done and wants it cut short like a boy. Why oh why doesn't she want to look like the darling girl she is??? Girls are fun! And why oh why does she want to dress like a ninja all the time lately? But I'm getting sidetracked here...

So I was never good at it. I don't know the tricks of the trade and had a very limited repertoire of styles to work with. But then! I found . . . .

HAIR TODAY!!!

A darling site of pictures and how-to's for little girl hair! Why oh why couldn't I have found this sooner?

{image via Hair Today}

So do you think it would look silly on a mom in her oh say, thirties, to wear some of these cute styles?

You Are Beautiful

"There are no ugly women.
Only lazy ones"

.
.
If there is anything I've learned from watching ANTM, its that ANYONE can look amazing with a little bit of effort. I mean some of those models look so ordinary until the hair and makeup goes on. And for a charming reminder on why its important, hop on over and visit Ruthann at Warm Pie, Happy Home!
.
You no doubt will feel much better when you're put together, And instead of looking at it as vanity, look at it as a pleasure you can give others, I mean, how thoughtful is cute little Ruthann anyway? Check out what she would do for her kids, ".... after I put my p.j.'s on, I would smooth on a yummy scented cream on my neck and hands so I would smell good when I tucked my kids into bed." Isn't that sweet? And ever so thoughtful!
.
Makes me want to rethink how I view my beauty routine {or lack of it sometimes} because yes, it is important.

Feeling Pretty Stripe-y Today

Loving the new American Living line over at JCPenney. Word on the rua (street for my non-portuguese speaking readers--said like, "hooo-a", kinda fun to say!) is that it is designed by a joint partnership with Ralph Lauren. One of my favorite designers!

Don't Listen To Me

Apparently I don't know much about fashion because I seem to disagree with the whole capri's are wrong line of thinking. Truth be told I like them better than walking shorts. Walking shorts just chop people up into unflattering thirds if you ask me. But capri's at the right length and with the right shoe are lovely!

And apparently I would get a ticket from the fashion police for wearing these too. I think they're cute and with the right outfit would be so so fun!

So nobody listen to me, I don't know what I'm talking about, I only wear what I like and don't follow what's hot or not in fashion!
